Katie Fisher has dreamed of the perfect wedding her entire life, and when she wins a couture gown from an upscale wedding boutique, almost all her dreams come true. There's only one snag in her plans: there is no groom. Katie's long-time boyfriend ends the relationship rather than proposing right before she's due to go to Dallas and claim her dress. Katie decides that she has an opportunity that she should not miss and is happy to get away from her tiny town of Fairfield, Texas, for a few weeks. As she stays with her cousin in Dallas and gets involved in the hoopla of everything that comes with winning her dress, Katie becomes less certain about all that she had previously been so sure of. Thompson (Stars Collide, 2011) presents a feel-good romantic comedy of subverted expectations, reminding readers that plans may not always work out but that, with faith, we can have much more.
