This is exactly what the book calls for, and the approach only underlines the sad life of one of the richest men in the world. Most journalists hold Murdoch in disdain. The founder of Fox News, the owner of the NEW YORK POST, and, to the horror of reporters everywhere, the new owner of the WALL STREET JOURNAL has never shied away from using his media for his own ends. Media reporter and narrator Michael Wolff takes us inside the secret world of Rupert Murdoch, and, while the story of his ever-expanding conglomerate is fascinating, the fact that the man himself is rather ordinary is disappointing. Murdoch comes off as less of a master manipulator and more of an overly ambitious grandfather who is clutching at immortality. Further, Wolff's slow and deliberate narration can drag at times.
