Othman Ali (O.A.) Abbott, influential lawyer, pioneer, and first Lieutenant Governor of Nebraska was born September 19, 1842 in Hatley, Quebec. O.A.'s family settled in Illinois and shortly after passing the bar exam, he moved to Grand Island. O.A.'s wife, Elizabeth, and two daughters, Grace and Edith, well-known in the field of social work are all members of the Nebraska Hall of Fame.
